The Primera Division returned to action after the international break and it was much as it was before the weekend off with Colo Colo maintaining their perfect record at the top of the table with their nearest rivals five points behind.

It was business as usual for los albos with three first half goals giving them a comfortable 3-1 win over Unión La Calera in the Estadio Monumental. The highlight of these goals has to be Gonzalo Fierro’s sublime chip for their third in the 41st minute which you can see below.

Sitting five points behind the league leaders in second place are Universidad Catolica, who bounced back from the loss before the break with a 5-0 thumping of O’Higgins with both David Llanos and Guillermo Maripan both grabbing a brace each.

Sitting a point behind Universidad Católica are Universidad de Concepción, who themselves suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of San Marcos de Arica, their second win of the campaign.

After a slow start to the season, Unión Española secured their third consecutive win with a 4-0 victory over the winless San Luis and moved to fifth on the table in the process. Sitting just ahead of them on the table are Palestino, who had a Marcos Riquelme second half brace to thank for their 2-0 defeat of Santiago Wanderers.

Whilst Colo Colo are flying high at the top of the table the same can’t be said for their fierce rivals, Universidad de Chile , who are languishing in seventh position nine points off the pace. Martin Lasarte’s position as manager is becoming extremely tenuous and a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Audax Italiano in the weekend’s final match didn’t exactly help matters. There was also a bit of crowd trouble with a bottle striking Audax’s charismatic goalkeeper Nicolas Peric.

In other results Iquique made it two wins in a row with a 2-1 defeat of Clausura champions Cobresal whilst Huachipato secured their second win of the season with 1-0 defeat of Antofagasta.
