Campeonato Apertura 2015: Week Five Review

Five weeks gone and Colo Colo have maintained their perfect start to the season, sitting five points clear of O’Higgins with traditional fast season starters Universidad de Concepción, who have a game in hand.

Colo Colo maintained their perfect start with a 1-0 victory over Antofagasta with a 38th minute goal to Juan Delgado securing all three points for the visitors. O’Higgins moved into outright second position on the table in the final match of the weekend with a Pablo Calandria brace giving them a 3-1 victory over San Marcos de Arica. Meanwhile Universidad de Concepción came from a goal down to defeat Cobresal 3-1 to maintain some sort of pressure on the league leaders.

On the same points as Universidad de Concepción are Universidad de Chile, who came from two goals down to secure a 4-4 draw with Palestino despite playing the last half an hour or so with only ten men in what was one of the matches of the weekend.

Universidad Católica suffered their first loss of the season going down 2-0 to Unión Española, who themselves secured their second win in a row and leap frogged their opponents on the table in the process. Meanwhile newly promoted San Luis, a still searching for their first win of the season after they went down 2-1 to Iquique, and remain rooted to the bottom of the table with only a solitary point.

In other results, Santiago Wanderers maintained their good start to the season with a 3-1 defeat of Huachipato and Audax Italiano defeated Unión La Calera 2-1.
