The Primera Division resumed on Friday night with Unión La Calera and Iquique fighting out a 1-1 draw in the Estadio Nicolas Chahuán. Both goals came in the second half courtesy of Manuel Villalobos for Iquique and Jean Paul Pineda for Unión La Calera. The results sees La Calera move to sixth position on the table whilst Iquique moved up to fourteenth.
In front of just under 3,000 spectators, Santiago Wanderers returned to winning ways with a 4-1 defeat of Cobresal. Jorge Luna continued his good start to the season for the Wanderers with the opening goal whilst in the second half Roberto Gutierrez returned to the goalscoring charts with a brace whilst Marco Medel also found the back of the net for the Valparaíso based side. Getting the only goal for Cobresal was Cristian Ledesma, who found the back of the net from a free kick with fifteen minutes remaining on the clock.
Universidad Católica broke their seven match winless streak in the weekend’s next match with a 2-0 defeat of Antofagasta in the Estadio San Carlos. Getting both goals for los cruzados was Jose Luis Muñoz, who scored in the 60th and 66th minutes of the encounter.
Another team to break a streak were Unión Española, who ended a three match winless and scoreless run with a 3-1 defeat of O’Higgins at the Estadio El Teniente. It was Marcos Gonzalez who ended the run of 295 minutes without a goal in the eighth minute although O’Higgins goalkeeper Jorge Carranza contributing significantly to the goal. O’Higgins hit back just before the break courtesy of the in-form Octavio Rivero, who scored his seventh goal of the campaign. A contentious penalty converted by Diego Scotti in the 74th minute and an effort Carlos Salom in the 88th minute ensured the win for the visitors although the win was soured by the sending off of Nicolas Berardo for picking up a second yellow card shortly after Scotti’s goal.
Continuing a streak were Colo Colo, who stretching the winning streak to four matches with a 3-1 defeat of Palestino in Sunday’s opening encounter. The win came despite playing almost an hour with ten men after Jean Beausejour was sent off for a foul on Leonardo Valencia, three minutes after he had given los albos are 2-0 lead following Emiliano Vecchio’s opener. Esteban Pavez made it three midway through the second half before Cesar Valenzuela grabbed a consolation goal for Palestino in the 85th minute.
An 89th minute goal from Francisco Ibañez saw Barnechea pick up their second win of the season, and their first points on the road, as they defeated Ñublense 1-0 in the Estadio Bicentenario Nelson Oyarzún.

Sitting one place above Cobreloa on the table are Antofagasta, who came from two goals down to secure a point at home against Huachipato. Huachipato, who had one eye on their midweek Copa Sudamericana clash, had Lucas Simon to thank for their 2-0 lead before late goals to Nicolas Davalos and Luis Cabrera earned the home side a share of the spoils.
The weekend’s final match saw Universidad de Chile maintain their three point lead at the top of the table as well as their unbeaten run as they defeated Universidad de Concepción 1-0 in the Estadio Santa Laura.
