Chile made it two wins out of two under the tutelage of Jorge Sampaoli after they defeated Haiti 3-0 in Concepción on Saturday with all three goals coming in the second half.
In a fairly even first half the home side was let down by the fact by some poor final balls with the star of the previous match against Senegal, Fernando Meneses being one of the main culprits. Carlos Muñoz, Paulo Magalhaes and César Cortés all had chances to open to get on the scoresheet in the first half but couldn’t find a way past Haitian goalkeeper Frandy Mantrévil.
The team came out with a different mentality in the second half with Muñoz having another chance in the 47th minute. However a minute later the Colo Colo striker did manage to open the scoring as he find the back of the net from a tight angle after Mantrévil could only parry a Cortés long range effort.
Nine minutes later la roja had their second goal of the night with a shot from the edge of the area from José Pedro Fuenzalida found the back of the net after a great team move. With a two goal advantage Sampaoli made a number of substitutions including the introduction of Unión Española striker Patricio Rubio who replaced the goal scorer Fuenzalida. And it was Rubio who got the third and final goal of the night in the 77th minute as he rounded the goalkeeper.
